London region celebrated Khilafat Day on Sunday, 30th May 2010, at Baitul Futuh Mosque in a befitting manner.  Mr Rafiq Ahmad Hayat, President of Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK presided over the function.

The function started with the recitation from the Holy Quran (Chapter 24 Verses 56-57) by Dr Mujeeb ul Haq Khan.  An Urdu poem composed by the Promised Messiah (as) was read by Mr Safeer Ahmad Zurtast.

Mr Waleed Ahmad, Editor Ahmadiyya Bulletin UK, delivered the first speech in English on the Second Manifestation of Allah’s Power. In his speech he explained that Almighty Allah manifests two kinds of power.  Firstly He demonstrates His hand of strength through the prophets and secondly at the time of the demise of The Prophet (saw) when complications mount and the enemy is in full might and thinks that they (the followers of the Prophet) are in a disarray and is sure that now this Jamaat will be ruined.  Even some within the Jamaat become hesitant and their backs are broken and some unfortunates among them even apostatize, then God manifests His strong hand of might and sustains the Jamaat.  Thus he who shows tolerance till the end, experiences this divine miracle, he added. He also described the features and qualities of second manifestation of divine power.  Mr Waleed Ahmad pointed out the heinous terrorist attack in two Ahmadiyya Mosques in Lahore and said that the Martyrs blood would not go in vain.

Mr Wasif Ahmad Ansari, a renowned Scholar, was the second speaker who made his speech in Urdu on Blessings of Khilafat.  He said Allah Almighty promised in the Holy Quran that Islam would be nurtured and fortified through the dedicated efforts of his rightly guided spiritual successors of Khalifat, so that his opponents would not rejoice in the reflection that after his demise.  Islam would wither and pass into the limbo of history, he added. In view of the Ayat-ul-Istikhlaf, that is, the verse of the Holy Qur’an which deals with the subject of Khilafat he narrated, in detail, the Khilafat of Holy Prophet (saw) and that of Promised Messiah (as).

The third speech was delivered by Deputy President of the AMC UK Mr Mohammad Akram Ahmadi, in English on the Blessings of Khilafat towards Humanity.  In his speech he illustrated, in detail, the various contribution made for the cause of humanity during the period of Khulafa of Prophet Muhammad (saw).  He highlighted the various humanitarian activities which is being rendered through out the world by Ahmadiyya Muslim Community under the direction of Khalifatul Masih V (atba).  In this regard he pointed out functions of Humanity First, Water and Electricity in Africa, village projects.  In his speech he termed all these as the magic of Khilafat.

After this speech a Tarana called Hamara Khilafat Pey Iman Hai was rendered by Mr Syed Sulman and his team of talented vocalists.

Professor of Jamia Ahmadiyya UK Mr Hafiz Ijaz Ahmad was the last speaker of the function who delivered his speech in Urdu on Our obligations to Khilafat. While making his speech on this topic he quoted various saying of Promised Messiah (as) and the successors of Promised Messiah (as).  He said as members of the Jamaat, we should not only obey this Jamaat but we should strive to establish and strengthen it through active participation, preferring its interests over all personal interests. We should discourage all cynicism about it, remembering that obedience is inextricably tied to respect and reverence. Any loose talk, especially in front of vulnerable youth or new members, can tarnish the respect of Nizam-e-Jamaat and thus hinder its proper obedience. He also mentioned that we should reflect upon the plight of those who failed to see this value. In the early years of Ahmadiyyat, those who disobeyed the Nizam deprived themselves of all the bounties of Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya flowing through this Nizam. Even today, look around for those who are ignorant of or indifferent to this Blessed Nizam and ask, are they happier and more peaceful than those who are trying to respect and obey it? He stressed on writing letters Khalifatul Masih V (atba).

The concluding remarks were made by Mr Rafiq Ahmad Hayat Sahib, President Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK.  In this concluding speech Amir Sahib said that today we have assembled here with heavy hearts and our heart is full of pain for the dreadful attack in our mosques at Lahore.  He said it is our beloved Huzur’s (atba) Friday Sermon which in fact is a source of consolation to the members of Jamaat.  He also pointed out that we should write to MPs, Ministers, Prime Minister of Britain giving details of the present situation now prevailing in Pakistan and request them to pressurise Pakistan Government in removing the ordinance in which we have been declared as non Muslim.

Mr Rafiq Ahmad Hayat led all in silent prayer and the function came to an end.  After Asr prayer snacks and tea were served.  More than 2,300 members of the Jamaat were present in function. This function was organised under the supervision of Regional President London Mr Naseer Deen and his team.
